Surgery Day

Getting ready to be taken back.
Jansen was not liking all of this and didn't want to wear the Dr. shirt

Jansen in the waiting room all excited about being at the Dr.

Recover room, not liking it one bit. He hated the iv in his arm and they had to take it out because he was crying so much. Daddy took care of him until it was time to go.
Jansen has a new tube in his right ear, and the Dr. took his adenoids out. He is talking so much better since they came out. He slept most of the weekend and is now back to normal. We will take him back to the Dr. in a few weeks for a check-up and a hearing test. We should get good results this time around.

Another tube and possibly adenoids out....

Jansen had a doctors appointment yesterday to see if the meds took care of the ear infection 5 weeks ago. Well the meds took care of the redness but he still has fluid on the ear drum. So now we move forward and protect his "good ear". Jansen will be having another tube put in next Thursday, March 19 and possibly have his adenoids out. The Dr. will look at his adenoids while he is under and if they are enlarged they will come out. Chris and I ask the audiologist and the Dr. if the fluid was doing any long term damage to his ear drum and they said NO, but it was hurting his speech development, as he can't hear things clearly at this time. Please keep Jansen in your thoughts and prayers next week as he has this surgery.

TEACHERS......

The Teacher
This is a great lesson for all who think teaching is easy. We all know they have never done it or they would know better. The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing Life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?" He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: "Those who can, do.. Those who can't, teach." To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?" Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused for a second, then began...) "Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor winner. I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental. You want to know what I make?" (She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table.) I make kids wonder. I make them question. I make them apologize and mean it. I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions. I teach them to write and then I make them write. Keyboarding isn't everything. I make them read, read, read. I make them show all their work in math. They use their God given brain, not the man-made calculator. I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know about English while preserving their unique cultural identity. I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe. I make my students stand, placing their hand over their heart to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, One Nation Under God, because we live in the United States of America. Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life. (Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.) "Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, with me knowing money isn't everything, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant.... You want to know what I make? I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make Mr. CEO?" His jaw dropped, he went silent.
THIS IS WORTH SENDING TO EVERY TEACHER YOU KNOW.

Baseball FUN!!

Jordan in his new uniform for travel ball!
GO #7!

Sharpsburg Cardinals Banner

Jansen loves being apart of the Cardinals team. He sat in the dug out and cheered them on!

We had a great weekend playing ball in Pike County and having great friends spend the night.
The team learned a lot and looked great in their new uniforms. They also had new matching bat bags. Life can't get any better, I love sitting in the sun watching my husband and son play the game they love. The Cardinals are learning a lot with travel ball. We look forward to the tournament in two weeks!

SNOW IN GA

Our house Sunday, March 1, 2009
Jordan had a great time riding his 4-wheeler in the snow!

Chris and Jordan trying to make a snowman

We had fun playing in the snow, but I am mad I didn't take more pixs. We were without power for several hours and we had to keep the boys in since we had no water or heat. I wish it would snow again so I could take more pictures. No luck for that this weekend since it will be in the mid 70s! Jordan is playing in a ball tournament all weekend and I can't wait to see the team with their new uniforms, bat bags and banner!
Good Luck Cardinals!!
